Dr. Jason Tan is a UK-based consultant psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience across Malaysia, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. Accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists as a specialist in General Adult Psychiatry with an additional endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry, he completed his higher psychiatric training through the prestigious Maudsley Training Programme at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the institution behind the Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines on which this calculator is built. Following his training, Dr. Tan served as a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist at the Maudsley before being appointed Medical Director at an independent hospital in London in 2024. His published research spans community mental health team effectiveness, the relationship between family functioning and inpatient admission, and metabolic care for patients on long-term psychotropic medication. This work has been recognised with the John Dunne Medal for excellence and originality in psychiatric research (Irish Journal of Psychological Medicine, 2019), and he was part of the team awarded the RCPsych London Division Team of the Year (2022). Dr. Tan advises Claro on the clinical accuracy of the tapering calculator, the framing of withdrawal versus relapse, and the appropriate use of liquid and compounded formulations.
