Daniel Lyons, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the owner of Adaptive Minds LLC, a private practice based in Washington, DC that has recently expanded into New Hampshire to increase access to psychiatric care for rural and underserved communities. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, anxiety, depression, and substance-use concerns, drawing on both personal and clinical experience to inform a pragmatic, collaborative approach to care. A native Washingtonian, Daniel graduated from Gonzaga College High School (’03) and holds two degrees from Georgetown University—a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (‘07) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (‘12)—before earning his MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Drexel University in 2018. He provides psychiatric care across the lifespan, with a particular focus on helping high-functioning professionals navigate challenges in focus, executive functioning, and emotional regulation while meeting substantial academic and workplace demands. Daniel serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Berkley School of Nursing at Georgetown University, where he teaches psychiatric/mental health nursing and contributes to curriculum development grounded in evidence-based, integrative practice. His teaching emphasizes clinical reasoning, therapeutic presence, and practical application of psychopharmacology within complex biopsychosocial contexts. In both clinical and teaching roles, Daniel integrates pharmacologic, behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-informed strategies, frequently organizing treatment decisions around the guiding question, “What is this medication—or change—in service of?” He envisions psychiatric care as a spectrum-based process rather than a rigid binary of illness versus health, and works with patients to align interventions with their values, histories, and long-term goals. He advises Claro on ADHD and neurodiversity-informed psychiatric guidance, values-aligned psychopharmacology framing, and support for high-functioning professionals between appointments.
